The Consequence of Revenge
by: Rachel Van Dyken
What do you do when you lose your best friend to another man?
Milo was my other half and my partner for when the zombie apocalypse hits, but she’s married now. I’m shutting down.
My friends want me to get a job, but I don’t need one. People have jobs to pay their bills, but I don’t have any bills because I am rich. I’m supposed to follow in my dad’s footsteps, but that’s the last thing I really want to do.
The Consequence of Revenge takes place on an island of love. Max’s friends sign him up for a reality show to find love. He doesn’t expect to, but fate has other plans.
Becca, just wants money to pay for her last two years of college. She just has to make it to the final four and she won’t have to worry about how she’s going to make that happen. All she knows is she doesn’t want to work at Starbucks for the rest of her life.
Will Becca and Max find love or is it all about the money?
I love a book with humor and Rachel Van Dyken delivers plenty of laughs in The Consequence of Revenge. There were many moments I was laughing so hard my husband and kids looked at me like I was going crazy. I love Max and Becca’s story. It is unconventional, yet conventional all at the same time. Max needed someone that understood his sense of humor since Milo got married in The Consequence of Loving Colton and Becca complements him perfectly. She just gets him and I love that.
Overall I loved the book. There’s a few things I wish were different and a few secondary characters I could have done without, but I love Rachel’s style of writing and look forward to reading more of her novels in the future.
